RMU Accounting Career & Networking Day

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19- 2:50- 6:00pm, 3RD floor Sewall 

Who is coming?
Here is a tentative list of organizations that will be represented on the panels, so far. (We're still waiting to hear from a few more organizations):

Why come?
-  You'll learn about the RMU AFA (Association of Future Accountants) and why it's a good idea to join and be an active member.
-  You'll get updates about ColonialTRAK, where we post jobs (full-time and part-time), internships/co-ops, on-campus and practice interviews.  IMPORTANT:  There are positions currently posted for next Spring, Summer and Fall that have deadlines coming up very quickly.
-  You'll get a listing of who's coming on campus to recruit Accounting students this Fall.
-  You'll learn from professionals in the field (newer and seasoned professionals as well as Human Resource representatives who recruit Accounting students) and find out what types of jobs and internships are available and what you need to be in the running to get them (GPA, part-time jobs, activities, etc)!
-  You'll learn about some typical and not-so-typical Accounting career paths.
-  Finally, you'll have an opportunity to meet with these professionals one-on-one to network and discuss your career-related question(s).
-  Oh, and yes, there will be free food! 

REGISTER by emailing afa@mail.rmu.edu.  Include your name, major, academic year, and email address.  Registration is not required by greatly appreciated to ensure you get handouts.  Also, if you can't be at the entire program (greatly preferred), still come.  Just let us know when you register what time you'll be there.

 Tentative Schedule of Events:
2:45-3:00- Registration
3:00- 3:10- Welcome from Carol MacPhail, Interim Department Head, Accounting & Taxation
3:10-3:30- Introduction to AFA (Association of Future Accountants); Overview of Upcoming Year; Use of RMU's ColonialTRAK job and internship posting system; Career Expo & On-campus recruiting info
3:40- 5:40- Small group break-out sessions- Learn about internship & career options; changes in the field; Bring your questions! NEW this year:  Groups will be divided by academic year, so topics discussed will be most relevant to you!
5:40-6:00- Networking
 This event is sponsored by the RMU Career Center, the AFA and the School of Business.Open to RMU students and alumni ONLY.

 Professional dress recommended; business casual accepted.
 No matter what your academic year (freshman through senior, grad students and alumni), you will benefit from this program.  (First year students...this will count as one of your FYSP activities!)
